Several years ago members of the MFUMC believed the church should create a setting where those seeking employment could meet on a routine basis to network, develop job search skills and share experiences. “Career Connections” was born out of that desire to fulfill those neeeds. Meetings are held on the first and third Wednesdays (excluding holidays) of each month. They are held at the church in Room 204. Currently there are five primary individuals that conduct the meetings:

Forrest Cate– As Director of Program at the church Forrest is responsible for Local and Global Missions. That responsibility  affords him the opportunity to come in contact with a broad array of people resulting in many contacts both in the church and in the community. He has led the Careers Connections meetings for the last several years.

Tyler Driver-Executive Director of The Extension. The Extension is a not-for-profit, community supported, long-term residential recovery program for homeless men and women that serves the Cobb County area and addresses one of the primary root causes of homelessness which is chemical dependence.

Brian McNair-A member of the church and Marietta native,  Brian also has a vast contact base. He oversees the church benevolent fund, is a local real estate agent and is active in the Marietta Rotary Club. Brian is a tireless volunteer in countless areas of the community.

John Morgan-A church member and retired from a career in college teaching/administration and church music ministry ( holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts). John serves as a Stephens minister and is in the choir. He has worked in the resume/career guidance fields for several years and now volunteers his time in that capacity.

Rick Perry-Also a church member, Rick is retired from over twenty-five years in the corporate banking/commercial lending industry. He volunteers in various capacities at the church and uses his networking skills to help job seekers.
